Muse - Nina Hagen

My mother told me that she used to listen to Nina Hagen in the early 80s. And after a trip to youtube and a search on google I have concluded that she is very original and inspiring! I´m especially inspired by her makeup, very over the top, but that´s the way I like it! I adore what she´s doing with her eyebrows, seems like a trademark of hers...

So now I have a liquid eyeliner in addition to my already somewhat impressive collection of dark lipsticks. You need at least one dark red, one dark brown and one dark violet. I´m thinking of bying a black lipstick as well, not to use as is but to combine with my other lipsticks to make them darker... I also have a bright red lipstick, which I never use, and a nude one, which is great for androgynous looks!

Still on the wish list: a quirky beauty trademark (my hat is my style trademark, I never go without it).

Muse - Siouxie Sioux

She is a real goth icon! Simple, sexy and undisputedly goth. Her eye makeup makes her look very feline, and not a cute kitty, but a very sleek predator. Her clothes, her hair and her makeup all harmonize to create a look both edgy and timelessly beautiful!

On a side note I wonder if Neil Gaiman wasn´t inspired by Siouxi when he created the sexy gothic Death (character in The Sandman)...



Sometimes I really wish my hair was black, so I could pull of this kind of gothic look... At least I have an oversized bronze anch cross like the one Death allways has... That is some consolation at least... I enjoy the irony of Death wearing a hiroglyph meaning "life". I wear my anch with my more gothic style outfits in the hope that someone will realize that I´m mimicking Death... Sadly all teenage goths these days wear anch crosses... As a Sandman fan and an ex-egyptology student I still uphold my right to wear an anch cross without beeing cliché.

Muse - Marlene Dietrich

Speaking of 30s glamour I came to think about Marlene Dietrich... Amazing style! The suit in the first pic makes her wonderfully androgynous. In the orher pics she is darkly elegant and never vulgar! I love the black veil in the middle and the white lace in the last pic. Dietrich is a truly elegant muse! An outfit does not have to be comlicated, simple is just as, if not more, elegant. People nowadays have a tendency to overcomplicate their outfits, sometimes making outfits messy and uncoordinated. Simplicity without minimalism is definitely undervalued today!

I find it funny that Dietrich smokes in nearly every picture. You never see that nowadays, people are to concerned with being politically correct. But damn, smoking is elegant. I could start smoking just for the elegance and flair of it...
