Awful or Awesome - Case #3 The Pussy Bow Blouse

In the recesses of my wardrobe I found this vintage bright green pussy bow blouse. A flee market find for next to nothing. I have only worn it a scant few times because the color doesn't really agree with me. I don't generally do bright colors. And the pattern is just so weird! It's just a bit much, I feel like a Christmas tree! So for me it teeters on the edge of awful. And I kind of cringe when I see it... But I love the cut and shape of it and I feel like I need to have at least one pussy bow blouse in my wardrobe for when I want to do the secretary or librarian look.

So, what do you think? Awful or awesome? Would you wear it or do you cringe when you see it?

  1. Would not wear, but it has potential. If the colour is too bright, does this piece handle washing machine? You could always dye it to something that's more "you".

    1. You know, that's a good idea! Maybe I could dye it a darker green or something... Then the odd pattern would be less obvious too! Maybe use a dark blue dye and make it sort of dark teal green? It's something to think about at least!

Hmmm... seems it's 100% polyester so it's at least washing machine safe. I wonder if polyester dyes well though...

    1. Thank you! I really like these shoes too. They are a bit worse for wear on the inside though so not very comfy anymore. :(

  3. The cut is great, I love pussycat bows! If it is polyester it is hard to dye, use hot water and special synthetic dye if you want to dye it. Also if you or a friend is good at sewing, perhaps make a pattern of it?

    1. Yeah, I suspected that it might be hard to dye... I suck at sewing and don't really know of anyone who is good at it so I think that's a lost cause unfortunately. We'll see what I end up doing with it.
